Last week, we held the final online meeting with the participants of the TaSeRnet Treatment Planning Peer Review, marking the completion of the first cycle. Over the past few months, six RTTs working in treatment planning/dosimetrists from three different European proton centers evaluated two treatment plans across two separate phases.
Peer Review Structure
The review cycle consisted of two phases. In the first phase, one participant created a proton treatment plan, which was reviewed by the other five participants. During an online meeting, the feedback was discussed, and potential areas for improvement were identified. These points were carried over to phase 2.
In phase 2, the same planner created a new plan incorporating the suggestions from phase 1. The group then evaluated whether the quality of the revised plan had improved compared to the initial version. This second phase also concluded with an online discussion. Finally, action points were formulated as potential best practices, on which participants could indicate whether they agreed or disagreed.
The evaluation of this first cycle is still ongoing. Based on the outcomes, a new round is expected to begin in the course of 2026. The results related to the potential best practices will also be integrated into the next round.
We would like to thank all participants of this first cycle for sharing their insights and expertise!
